We booked the spot for my 40th birthday and I was blow away by the balcony overlooking Manarola and the sea. Less than that is of course not to be looked down upon, but you will have to pick and choose between activities and time for exploration vs. relaxation. We actually spent a few days in Sestri Levante prior to visiting the Cinque Terre, and it struck us as an ideal base from which to explore the Ligurian Coast - Cinque Terre included. The train station is located in Fegina, and given it has only a handful of steps to enter/exit, this is a good area to consider if accessibility is a concern. Ca'der Porpo Rossa | This is the little studio that we stayed in, located on a quiet little street just off the main thoroughfare. Travel plans change so can your bookings. Built in 1900, the property is 1 km from La Spezia Cruise Terminal. Includes a fantastic outdoor garden space, and even a jacuzzi! Lovely design features, it includes a ground floor outside area and a roof terrace. Location, facilities, and overwhelmingly positive guest reviews were also factored in. Completely refurbished recently to high standard and decorated in calming blues. She made our parking reservation and guided us throughout the check in and check out process. Apartment Margo | This one-bed Airbnb has two massive things going for it - it has free, covered parking and a very large back patio perfect for balmy evenings. Some include a hydromassage shower. Cons | Riomaggiore does appear to have more than its fair share of cellar-apartments, which are fine for a short visit (we stayed in one), but do tend to have limited natural light and issues with damp. Hotel La Colonnina | As one would expect from the name, this old town located hotel is rather grand, with traditionally opulent rooms, attentive staff and a large rooftop terrace. Luxury Modern Apartment | Although a little lacking in natural light, if a modern finish - and good amenities - is important to you in an apartment, consider taking a look at this one bedroom with large private patio. The apartment was bigger than we needed for two people, but too big is far better than too small! Riomaggiore is a great base if you're going to explore the region on foot and you want to stay somewhere where you can wake up and start walking. Ulivo | A really cute little one-bedroom attic apartment in the hills above the old town (but only 10 min walk from beach), with panoramic views over Monterosso. The appartment is equipped with all the necessities needed for a week vacation and is nicely finished with new furniture. The hotel offers modern-style rooms with air conditioning, a satellite TV and minibar. I must say that I have nothing to complain about. Doubles from 95. C Laudemia | A large modern two bedroom apartment with all mod cons, its main selling feature is the large terrace (as well as free parking in the railway station area with pass provided). This guesthouse offers clean, bright and good sized rooms in an excellent location. // Whilst not true across the board - with some villages such as Vernazza having a number of high standard apartments - the thing that surprised us most when searching for accommodation in the Cinque Terre was the quality of accommodation on offer. Il Brindisi Sul Tramonto | This little one bedroom apartment has made it into the list due to its price - just 70 per night, which is kind of unheard of in the Cinque Terre.
