This is not a race car or even a 4wd. I am afraid the Jeep will catch on fire or cause an accident. Appears to have had pcm, air filter, plugs and wires replaced. Why would they not find a new way to do this type of gear shift that doesn't fall apart in two years of driving. . Hi, A known problem on Jeep GC WK1 with the Nag1 transmission is problems with the Electronic Shift Module which costs more than R9000 at the dealers. They had it for 3 days, & only replaced battery. Immediately begin counting the number of flashes displayed by the Overdrive Off Switch indicator lamp. I was able to steer to the side of the road but I was in three lanes wide of traffic on the highway and had I not been in the lane closed to the side of the road I could have been badly injured. Another possible recall issue is the screws that hold the pcm might be too long and are grounding out the unit after paint wears off on firewall. Bought new in April 2013. . The gear shift should not be having parts replaced. Part # is 5037751AC, and the code for the Mechanism, gearshift - Replace Console is 21010336. Our 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited gets stuck in 3rd gea and will not shift. They told us they would replace the solenoid, and it should be fine. 3 months later, problem returned. I didn't have a gimp, limp or runsafe, occur, but the error code was being thrown, so they replaced it. . At 50,000 miles while driving along the road, I heard a loud bang and thought I had a blowout of a tire. I've also checked many other things that were issues with the Jeep. I was able to scan it once and it read a code for "transmission control module". The next day, or after vehicle has been sitting for several hours, the process will start again. The explanation the consumer was given that the air condition will cycle on at the same time the cooling fans which was said to cause the problem. This tends to happen more often on warm days, over 88 degrees f and seems to be a shutdown of the pcm which controls the fuel pump, fuel injectors and the ignition system. .
